WOOD FLOOR RESCUE blog
Read an Article. Ask a Question. Save a Wood Floor.
Your wood floors are not the worst!Chances are, if you are considering a wood refinishing contractor, you might be a bit self conscious about the state of your floors. Before you allow your floors to reach the infamous "worst" condition, you should get to know how your floors will wear, how to keep them looking good longer, and when to call someone to refinish them. Water stained hardwood floorsNotice the dark water or pet stain in these worn hardwood floors. These floors will clean up nicely for the most part with a complete dustless sand and refinish. The darkest stain may be very deep in the wood and may still leave a shadow when the floor is restored. Prevent this type of damage to your wood floors by ensuring that any spills or accidents get cleaned up right away. If you've got a good finish on your floors, it should keep them protected long enough to clean up. Wood Floors with finish worn right offIn this kitchen wood floor, it looks like the mat that normally sits in front of the sink on the left is allowed to hold water. The water will soak through the mat and sit directly on the floor. When that happens, the finish is eventually worn off and the bare wood is exposed and vulnerable to damage. This floor should definitely be sanded and resealed, and soon! It can be refinished and restored, but if too much water is allowed to absorb in the same spot, we may end up with discolouration that is irreversible. It's still got time, so if this is your floor, you can call anytime ;) Prevent this type of damage by keeping the area in front of the sink dry. That can be as simple as picking up that mat after the dishes are done so it can dry out off the floor. Pets, teens and worn hardwood floorsHere we have either a reasonably sized dog or teenagers wearing their shoes in the house (or both!) We believe that hardwood floors are supposed to help you make memories by creating that warm ambience where people can just be themselves. That said, sometimes those memories leave dings and debts behind like what we see in this picture. This wood floor can also be sanded and restored, bringing back the warm and welcoming atmosphere this home offers. Prevent this type of damage by keeping outdoor shoes and boots from being worn inside. Easier said than done we know! View the worst hardwood floors we have seenThis hardwood floor was covered in carpet glue. It took the right equipment and a lot of hours to clean these babies up to refinish. I think the end result was worth it, don't you? What about your floors?Have you got some floors you'd like a pros' opinion on? Go ahead and post them in the comments below and we will be happy to share our best advice with you.
